Future Health launches global health programme partnership with King’s Think Tank

Future Health, the global healthcare policy research centre and the King’s Think Tank (King’s), the largest student led policy institute in Europe have today announced a research partnership to inform the G7 healthcare agenda taking place in the UK this summer.

Future Health and King’s will work together on a multi-author policy research paper for publication for the G7 and present their findings to the UK Government. The research will be written by authors from the King’s network, including practicing and trainee healthcare professionals, and cover a number of important global healthcare topics:

  • Health security
  • Antimicrobial resistance
  • Health technology
  • Mental health

The research paper will be edited by Richard Sloggett, former Special Adviser to the Health and Social Care Secretary and the Founder and Programme Director of Future Health.

On announcing the partnership Richard Sloggett said: “I am delighted to announce this collaboration with King’s on the global health agenda. Future Health is passionate about working with the next generation of healthcare leaders, such as those at King’s, to create new policy ideas that can help us build a healthier and more prosperous planet. With the vaccine programme providing a way out of the pandemic, the G7 in the UK this year presents a fantastic opportunity for the world to unite to effectively tackle current and future health threats.”

Gursharan Khera, Director of the Global Health Policy Centre at King’s Think Tank, stated: “I am happy to announce a collaboration with Future Health, prior to the upcoming G7 summit. The Global Health Policy Centre at King’s Think Tank is committed to enhancing global health agendas through constructive and sustainable policy recommendations.  Our work is composed by a dynamic team of student policy makers, many of whom are practicing health care professionals with experience of delivering care in areas of variable resource. As the world enters a new normal following the Covid-19 pandemic, it is essential for nations to re-examine the health needs of their populations and the policy that must be implemented in order to support these goals”.

About King’s Think Tank

The King’s Think Tank aims to provide a platform for students to engage with the world of policy. It is an exceptional opportunity for students to seek out innovative solutions to complex issues.

Through our seven policy centres, our committee strives to address the pressing challenges of today’s society through organising policy workshops, panel discussions, and lobbying trips. Critical analyses are published in our online blog and formal policy papers are published in our annual policy-recommendation journal, The Spectrum.

In the decade since our launch, we have grown into a vibrant and diverse community of writers, activists, and leaders. In the coming academic year, we will be building on the foundation from previous years to grow our impact within the student-body at King’s and also the wider community.
